Successful completion of the course comes with a 3-year certification with the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada and 3 years of insurance when working as a volunteer (either with other CPSAC volunteers, with another organization, or when volunteering independently). Meet Your Instructors
Jessie Morrison, CPST- IC
Jessie lives in Deep River with her three sons and her husband. She's been a CPST for 3+ years serving her community by running clinics, doing private checks, and supporting parents online. When she's not doing carseat yoga, you can often find Jessie crocheting or renovating her family home.
Allana Robinson, CPST- IC
When Allana isn't carseating you can find her supporting parents online as a Parenting Effectiveness Coach. She lives in Petawawa with her two boys and her husband. Allana certified as a CPST two and a half years ago and since then has relished supporting her local community via private checks and the occasional clinic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have a nursling who needs frequent feeding. Can I bring him/her with me?
A: Unfortunately for this course that won't be possible. You can however have a caregiver bring your child to you and pop out occasionally to feed if necessary.
Q: How much does it cost to get certified?
A: To become CPSAC certified through Renfrew County Car Seats costs $250. This fee covers your course fees and materials, 3 year certification through CPSAC.org, and 3 years of volunteer liability insurance.
Q: Once I'm certified will I be able to start a business installing car seats?
A: Once you are certified you will be able to start volunteering as a car seat technician at private checks and clinics. If you'd like to start a private business installing car seats there are some additional measures you will need to take- these will be covered in the course.
Q: What is your refund policy?
A; Course fees are non-refundable unless the instructors cancel the course.
Q: Is there a payment plan?
A: Yes, we do offer a payment plan for registrations that take place up to 3 months before the course. The last day the payment plan will be available for this course is July 28th 2018. All fees must be paid in full before beginning the course.
Q: Where is this course being held?
A: This course is being held at the Petawawa Library Rotary Room. There is free parking available. Once you register you'll get an email 1 week before the course with detailed directions and a map!
Q: I can't make these dates- when is the next course in the area?
A: The next course offering depends on several factors- including demand. If you want to become certified but can't make this course- please put your name on the wait list here.
